Nursing Friendly Fashion from Lou & Grey

I’m on a mission to find nursing friendly clothes! I recently went to Ann Taylor Loft and fell in love

with their Lou & Grey line. It’s so soft! This cowl tunic is perfect for nursing, especially if you have to nurse in public.

I purchased it in both blue and black because it’s so cozy, stylish and practical. You can pair it with leggings (covers my behind) or jeans, and wear with sneakers or dress up with booties or tall boots. I’ve been wearing a nursing bra and a nursing tank top underneath, and the poncho is long enough to full cover baby Xavier’s head and body while he’s nursing.
It’s $59.50 but I got it on sale over Labor Day weekend for 40% off.

Craft Ideas for a Rainy Day

We’ve been crafting maniacs this summer! I’m sure we’ll be doing even more as the weather turns colder and we can’t go outside. I’m always looking for good crafting ideas and projects to stock up on for rainy days. Here are a few ideas:

1 – Ingredients to make homemade play doh – my homemade play dough recipe is here.

2 – Beads and string for bracelet and necklace making fun.

3 – Fabric markers. I shop for tote bags and t-shirts when on sale to have them on hand to decorate for a rainy day.

This week Max and I received a Halloween glow in the dark tote bag and Colortime Markers to play with. He was so excited. As you can see below, I couldn’t even get a picture taken without his little hand sneaking in to go after the markers.

Colortime Crafts and Markers are great for coloring pillowcases, t-shirts, backpacks and totes. And they have a selection of glow in the dark items available now. It’s such a fun activity and it’s extremely easy to clean up! This would be a great idea for a birthday party. I always love a craft project that doubles as a unique keepsake.

If you join the Colortime ‘Birthday Club’, you’ll receive 20% off and a free backpack with your order at www.ColorTime.com.

Tips for Tie-Dye Fun

Since I’ve been home on maternity leave, we’ve become quite the crafting household! It’s extra special fun when mom and friends get to craft too. We made tie-dye shirts last week and it was fun for everyone involved!

I purchased the Tulip One Step 18-Color Tie-Dye Kit off Amazon (currently on sale!) which includes everything you need to tie-dye (except your clothing). My friends and I purchased white tanks on sale at Meijer for us, and Hanes plain t-shirts and onesies for my toddler and newborn son.

The Tulip Tie-Dye Kit is pretty straight forward. Add water to the bottles, wrap rubber bands around your shirts, put on gloves, and squirt dye onto the shirts. Here are a few things I’d recommend:

1 – Do this outside! It’s super messy!
2 – Put down throwaway table clothes. The kit comes with one table covering, and I also used another one I had leftover from a birthday party to put on the ground.
3 – Don’t wear nice clothes during this project – the dye won’t wash out!
4 – The dye goes bad after awhile, so make sure to make a ton of shirts, tote bags etc., while you have the dye ready to go. You can’t reuse them later.
5 – Make sure to wash the items you want to tie-dye first (t-shirts, totes, etc.). I did not do this, and the dye kind of just rolled off my tank top, instead of saturating it. It still came out nice, but it would have been even better if I had washed them first.

This is such a fun craft project that EVERYONE can enjoy. I had to help my son put the rubber bands on his shirt, but he had a blast squirting the colors on his shirt (as you can see from the picture, he went a little overboard with the blue). I received compliments on my tank – people are surprised to hear that we made them at home!

If you have any tie-dye tips I’d love for you to share them in the comments below!

The Ceramic Studio in Howell MI

My 3 year old has been all about crafting lately, which I’m totally loving. I loved doing crafts when I was younger, and honestly, I still do! I don’t consider myself a ‘crafty’ person though. I need someone else to come up with craft, and then I’ll have fun doing it!

I recently heard about The Ceramic Studio, Etc. in Howell and had to check it out. I loved the idea of painting our own ceramic pieces. I took my 3 year old and he had a great time. I was totally expecting to only last 20 minutes or so but we stayed for a little over an hour and Max painted his train bank the entire time!

When you visit The Ceramic Studio, Etc., you pick out the ceramic piece(s) you want to paint. They have a huge selection of items…mugs, plates, banks, figurines, etc. I knew I wanted to put the boys hand/foot prints on something, but also wanted something I could use, so I chose a large mug.

The employees that were working when I was there were awesome. They gave us an overview of how it works and walked us through the different paints, brushes, etc. When it came time to get Max’s handprint and Xavier’s footprint on my mug, one of the employees helped me put them on my mug.

The ceramic pieces range in price, around $12 and up. My mug was around $24. You pay for your ceramic item and that is it, and you can stay as long as you want. I could see this being a fun girls night out event, and would be awesome if they let you bring wine.

I’ll definitely be going back here before the holidays to make some grandparent gifts. If you don’t live near the area, I would try searching for a ceramic store near you. It’s a great rain or snow day option! Have you been here before or a place like it? If so, what did you paint?

Baby Dove Bath Products Review

I not only like testing new bath and body products for myself, but I LOVE testing new baby bath products as well. I am a religious Dove body soap user myself, so when I heard they had a new baby line coming out, I couldn’t wait to try it!

Baby Xavier feeling fresh after his bath with Baby Dove

I’ve used the Baby Dove Rich Moisture Tip to Toe Wash and Shampoo on both my 2.5 year old and newborn. They both smelled so good after their bath! The scent is similar to the plain Dove soap bar, but a little more fragrant. My toddler has pretty sensitive skin and the Rich Moisture line seems to be gentle enough for him.

I’m also loving the Hand and Face wipes. Especially for summer time when we’re spending a lot of time outside, they come in handy for cleaning hands after playtime.

The Baby Dove line comes in both a Rich Moisture and Sensitive Moisture line. The Rich Moisture line includes a baby bar soap, Tip to Toe Wash, Lotion, Shampoo, Hand and Face wipes and an essentials gift set (great idea for a baby shower gift!). The Sensitive Moisture line includes a Tip to Toe Wash, Shampoo and Hand and Face Wipes.

Baby Xavier feeling playful and fresh!

You can find Baby Dove at your local Meijer, Walgreens and other select retailers, or you can shop online at Amazon.com, Target.com, Walmart.com or Walgreens.com. Have you tried out the new Baby Dove line? If so, I’d love to know what you think in the comments below!

PinkBlush Summer Fashion & Gift Card Giveaway

I’ve been so hot being 8 months pregnant in 80+ degree heat, so I was really excited to shop for some summer maternity clothes on PinkBlush Maternity. I really wanted a pair of shorts to wear while running errands and running after my toddler, and a cute tank to pair with it.

I selected these cuffed jean shorts and they are super cute. They fit true to my normal jean size. They have a full belly maternity band that makes them super comfortable.

I’m also loving this lace up tank. The lace up back is so unique. I wore a regular tank top underneath since the back is open. This tank would look great with jeans as well. It comes in a few different colors, and if I would have discovered this earlier in my pregnancy, I would have purchased it in multiple colors!

If you find yourself obsessing over PinkBlush clothes as much as I do, enter below to win a $75 gift card to PinkBlush Maternity online boutique.

Tubby Todd Bath Co Review

I’m definitely creating a ‘bath product fanatic’ with my son. Max gets so excited when I tell him he has new bath soap for bath time (I mean, look at him eyeing up the soap in the above picture!). We recently got to try a new, all natural bath line, called Tubby Todd Bath Co. I was intrigued by this line because 1) it’s made from 100% all natural ingredients and 2) read reviews about it being great for dryness, eczema and sensitive skin babies, which is what I always look for, since Max inherited my sensitive skin.

A little background: Tubby Todd was created by Andrea Faulkner Williams, who wanted to create an all natural line for her family’s sensitive skin. She spent years perfecting this line, and now has an entire line that is 100% natural with sensitive skin babies in mind.

We tested the Lavender & Rosemary Hair & Body Wash and absolutely loved it. First off, it smells fantastic. I love using Lavender scented bath products right before bed, to help create a relaxing atmosphere. I use a little as both bubble bath and as a shampoo for Max. This wash made Max’s skin so soft after bath! I could definitely tell a difference from other washes. I also don’t need to use a conditioner or hair detangler when I use this as shampoo. It makes his hair pretty soft and manageable.

Tubby Todd products are also good for newborns, so I’m excited to test them out on my new little guy arriving soon. Have you tried Tubby Todd Bath Co. products yet? If so, please share your favorite ones below in the comments!
